Widespread: existing or happening over a large area or among many people. Extendido.E.g. widespread damage.The plan received widespread support throughout the country.

Put aside: to save something or keep it available to use. Ahorrar. E.g.We put some money aside every month for our retirement.

Afterthought: a thing that is thought of, said or added later, and is often not carefully planned.Ocurrencia tardía, idea de último momento. E.g. they only invited Jack and Sarah as an afterthought.
 
Dinghy: /ˈdɪŋi/ /ˈdɪŋɡi/ a small open boat that you sail or row. Bote. E.g. a rubber dinghy.

Striking: /ˈstraɪkɪŋ/ interesting and unusual enough to attract attention. Sorprendente.

Send something off: to send something to a place by post/mail. E.g. I'm sending the files off to my boss tomorrow.

The shop floor:
1 the area in a factory where the goods are made by the workers. Taller. E.g. to work on the shop floor. In the industrial sector, there are still relatively few women on the shop floor.
2 the workers in a factory, not the managers. Obreros. E.g. most decisions about how work should be done are taken in the office rather than on the shop floor (= by the workers).

Sackto dismiss somebody from a job. Fire.

Spur: to encourage somebody to do something or to encourage them to try harder to achieve something. Estimular, alentar. E.g. her difficult childhood spurred her on to succeed. My trainer spurred me to keep up a pace of four miles an hour.
